Everyone knows Google as a search engine for searching keywords but most of the people don’t know about the google hidden features. In this article I will tell you about some hidden features of google search engine.

1. Calculator

There is a built-in advance calculator in the Google search box, which is a really simple to use. You can use the calculator for any math problem you want to solve, like calculating the tip at a restaurant, logarithmic and trigonometric calculation, making graphs, or solving geometry problems.

2. Conversions

Using the google search box, you can convert currency and units. You can use the unit converter to convert from one measurement to another. For example, you could convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit or cups to liters. Currency conversions and unit conversions can be found by using the syntax: <amount unit1> in <unit2>. For example, you could type '1 USD in INR', '50 C in F' or '15 inches in cm' etc. and get an instant result.

3. Translations

Another interesting feature of google is the translation. You can translate foreign words to your language in a quick way. Type 'translate <word> to <language>' to translate words to the language you want. For example,'translate apple to hindi' returns result seba.

4. Search for a specific file type

If you are looking for a PDF or a Word file or PPT file, you can search for specific file types by typing '<search term> filetype:pdf ’ or '<search term> filetype:doc' or '<search term> filetype:ppt'. After that google gives you search result of all pdf or doc or ppt file related to your search.

5. Define

Google has an inbuilt dictionary in the search box, which helps you to get definition of the words. Simply type define:term in the search box, google's dictionary function gives you the appropriate meaning of that term.

6. Site search

By using the 'site:' keyword in the search box, you can make Google to search results from only one particular site. For example, by using keyword “site:cusensro.blogspot.com windows” in the search box, you could search article only related to windows from the cusensro blog.

7. Time zones

Using google search box, you can search time for a particular place with time zone as well as date. For this search 'time in <place>' and you will get the local time for that place, as well as the time zone and date. For example, search “time in Delhi” and get the time in Delhi.

8. Weather forecasts

Type the name of a city followed by 'forecast', and Google will tell you the weather today, including levels of precipitation, humidity and wind, as well as the forecast for the next week, based on data from The Weather Channel.

9. Search for local film showings

Search for film showings in your area by typing 'films' or 'movies' followed by your postcode. It will display the show time of different talkies, results are displayed according to zip-code.

The chat bot has some predefined text related to Mars and it can't answer to many questions, but it's always ready to rephrase your messages.

11. Exclude search terms

When you're enter a search term that has a second meaning, or a close association with something else, it can be difficult to find the results you want. Exclude irrelevant results using the '-' sign. So for searches for 'apple' where the word 'iPhone' is not used, enter 'apple -iPhone'.

12. Related search

To search for web pages that have similar content to a given site, type 'related:' followed by the website address into the Google search box. For example, typing 'related:timesofindia.in' gives a list of other Indian newspaper websites.

13. Using Public Data

This feature gives you the ability to check trends for population and unemployment rates of various cities and counties. To use it, all you need to do is typing ‘population’ or ‘unemployment rate’ followed by the location you want. For example, I typed: “population rate US” and got the following result.

14. Search for Faces Only

I made the previous image when I typed “Salman Khan” in the search bar and chose “faces”. Sometimes you need to do this if you’re looking for Faces Only.
